SAN FRANCISCO | The flight 759 Air Canada has nearly caused what would have been one of the worst disasters in the history of aviation shortly before midnight last Friday at the international airport in San Francisco, California. In the approach, the pilot aligned the aircraft to the wrong runway. On it was four planes filled with passengers near the take-off.
The federal aviation Administration u.s. (FAA) has opened an investigation on this event. The San Jose Mercury News reported that the control tower has forced the Airbus 320 Air Canada to go back and redo his approach, a manoeuvre rarely done in civil aviation.
Investigators are trying to determine at what point the aircraft in flight spent nearly all of the devices on the ground.
“If these facts are true, what happened could have been the biggest aviation disaster in history,” said the pilot of United Airlines retired Ross Love. The one who is now a consultant claims to have been contacted by drivers throughout the United States about this incident.
“If you can imagine an Airbus colliding with four aircraft full of fuel and passengers, you can imagine how this would have been horrifying,” he added.
Peter Fitzpatrick, a spokesman for Air Canada, said that this flight had landed without incident after re-approach. He added that the airline was investigating the circumstances.
The dissemination of a recording of the control tower confirms that the Air Canada flight was heading towards the wrong track. A pilot on the ground has asked the air traffic controller where moving the device in volume It has then been redirected.
This Air Canada flight was from Toronto.
