TORONTO – A parole hearing for Paul Bernardo, one of the criminals who have marked the judicial history of Canada, has once again been postponed in October in Toronto.

Tim Danson, the lawyer for the families of the murder victims of the serial killer, was confirmed Thursday to Global News that the hearing, originally scheduled for march and August of this year, has again been postponed for reasons not given at the request of Bernardo.

Paul Bernardo is serving a sentence of life in prison for kidnapping, rape and murder, a deliberate act of two teenage girls, Leslie Mahaffy, 14, and Kristen French, 15 years, Ontario.

He was 28 years old at the time of these crimes, in 1993, committed with the complicity of his wife of the time, Karla Homolka. He also confessed to have raped the 14 other women, which has earned him the nickname of “rapist of Scarborough”. It has also been recognized by nearly a dozen other attacks.

After more than two decades behind bars, Bernardo became eligible for parole.

The families ‘ lawyer, however, believes that his chances of release are slim. Me Danson intends to contest vigorously any request on the part of Bernardo, even if it is admissible and that it may begin the application process.

Bernardo is eligible for full parole in 2018.
