On the eve of the sad 10th anniversary of the disappearance of the young Cédrika Provencher, one of the men who found his remains returned on this discovery.
December 12, 2015, Martin Lanthier and friend was on a trip hunting for small game in a wooded area of Trois-Rivières.
“We have discovered the bones of this size and which resembled those of a child. We immediately contacted the Sûreté du Québec and that is where they have taken possession of the premises and searched the surrounding area,” said the hunter who can’t give too much details because of the investigation that is still ongoing.
Even though he was well aware of the history surrounding the disappearance of the girl, he didn’t immediately thought that this could be it.
“Initially, no. We ask questions, to learn what it can do there and if it is it that it also was discovered. It happens when even a few seconds before realizing that he really is a human being,” he said.
“This is when you realize that this is a human being and, even more, a child, that it upsets us. It becomes all weird and you can imagine lots of things,” said Mr. Lanthier.
The latter is not about to forget what he saw that day. It considers, however, that this discovery will at least allow the family Provencher to begin the grieving process.
