MONTREAL – Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several areas in southern Quebec.
According to the federal agency, the conditions are “conducive to the formation of thunderstorms, dangerous, capable of producing wind gusts causing damage, the hail of large size and heavy rain”.
This warning is in effect for the eastern Townships, the Mauricie, Montreal, the Laurentians, the Montérégie, Lanaudière and Centre-du-Québec.
A tornado could also form in the Gatineau region. “A risk of tornadoes isolated is expected to form later this morning and persist during the greater part of the afternoon”, says it on the Environment Canada website.w
