MONTREAL – An arson occurred in the night from Sunday to Monday, in a restaurant located at the intersection of Rosemont boulevard and rue des Écores, in the borough of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie in Montreal.
Firefighters were called to respond at about 2: 15.
According to initial information, “at least one person would have launched an object incendiary inside the restaurant before fleeing,” said Manuel Couture, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
Security officers who were nearby would have managed to subdue the suspect before handing him over to the police.
Man, aged 30, was arrested and taken to the operational center where it will be heard by the investigators.
Several evacuations have been carried out, but no one was injured. The damage would be very significant.
An investigation has been opened by the arson strike force by the SPVM.
