The electoral gains for the CAQ

François Legault believes even be able to make electoral gains on this issue, due to the popular discontent against the poor management of this “irregular immigration”. “I think we can win in Louis-Hébert. The residents of Louis-Hébert, an electoral district located in Quebec, are not directly affected by the wave of refugees arriving in the United States. Mr. Legault believes, however, that he can get electoral gain. “People in Quebec are upset […] They know very well that we can’t continue to accept 1000 migrants more per week”, he lamented.

“I understand that we can not say that these are illegal immigrants, but they enter illegally. Mr. Couillard must say loud and clear to these immigrants that if they can’t prove that their life is in danger, we won’t accept them”, he said during a media scrum.

The prime minister Philippe Couillard, who is located in Charlottetown in the province of Île-du-Prince-Édouard, has responded by denouncing the remarks of his opponents. It is estimated that Quebec must pay the school for the children of refugees and to pay a cheque in aid of last resort and that he made his accounts later. “Is it that Quebecers would be acceptable to leave small children without a school?
