BÉCANCOUR | The thesis of family drama is not excluded by the Sûreté du Québec to explain the death of a child of two years in Bécancour, on Friday night.

A woman of 39 years is for the moment considered to be a material witness in relation to the death of a child of two years occurred on the avenue Cyr. It will be met soon by investigators from the Sûreté du Québec, which does not confirm its link with the child. According to our information, this would be the mother of the victim, who lived alone with her little boy.

The police were called to 21 h Friday evening to introduce themselves to the building housing where the tragedy had just occurred. According to witnesses, the paramedics were rushing in every direction, and have released the young victim on a stretcher, then the mother, who is currently hospitalized.

The toddler was then in cardio-respiratory arrest, attempts at resuscitation have been attempted without success, and his death was recorded in the hospital. The mother was however released, but we do not know his state of health.

Saturday, the major crimes were on site and the forensic identification officers have examined the scene until 11: 30, before you pack up and leave.

Separation

The lady and her son had moved from Montreal to Bécancour there is a year and a half, as a result of a separation, according to neighbors met on the spot. The child’s mother was cordial with the neighbourhood, but was at least smiling for some time and seemed to be in financial difficulties.

The brother of the mother came to the apartment at noon Saturday, but did not want to speak to the media, and has just recalled that there was an ongoing investigation. Remember that criminal charges are not given in this folder for now.

A neighbor, disturbed by the events recalled that the young victim had celebrated his second birthday there a few weeks ago.

“We saw it this summer, people came with gifts and balloons, it is not a long time… Myself I have a daughter of four years, it is sure that it comes looking for me,” says Isabelle Grenier.

Other neighbors who wished to remain anonymous gave their state of shock.

“At the time I didn’t believe it. It really made me something,” said one of them.

This is the second time in less than a year that the avenue Cyr is the theatre of a drama. In November 2016, two residents of the building next door had been found dead in a garage in the wake of a suicide pact.
