Two years after the attack on the Thalys connects Amsterdam to Paris by a terrorist, the american director Clint Eastwood is in France to adapt the story into a film. In his feature-length film, the american star is to play the real heroes of the 21 August 2015.
It is quite rare to come across a planetary star in Arras. This weekend, the small town in the Pas-de-Calais region is nevertheless home to a living legend of the 7th art in the person of Clint Eastwood. The american director shot his film adaptation of the attack on the Thalys by a terrorist on August 25, 2015. After having put down his cameras at the airport of Roissy, in one of the city of Gennevilliers and then in the parisian district of Montmartre, the filmmaker is since Friday on the quays of the railway station of Arras, where he commandeered a Thalys train and gathered 400 extras.
The most amazing thing in this project is that, for the feature film titled The 15:17 to Paris, the director has decided to assign the roles of the three american tourists who have foiled the attack at… three american tourists in question: Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos and Spencer Stone. No big name purring, or the world star but three heroes in real life, become actors of the day to the next for the good of the film. A first for a film of this magnitude. According to The Progress, Clint Eastwood even went so far as to play in his film the real first responders since they occurred at Arras on the day of the attack. There is that for his scenes at the Elysée palace, the american director has hired a double of the president of the Republic of that time. Maybe if we had asked him, François Hollande would have agreed to embody their own role in the cinema…
