The studies on the health risks related to electromagnetic waves from mobile phones do not manage to conclude on a risk for the users as standard. The precautionary principle prevails, however, especially in pregnant women who avoid, most often, to use to the utmost their phone.
But a Norwegian study published in the journal BMC Public Health looks at new show, specifically for pregnant women, as mobile phone use has no impact on the neurological development of the child.
Language and communication preserved
This result reassuring was obtained by observing the data of a cohort of more than 45,000 mothers in norway. Through questionnaires, they reported their patterns of use of their mobile phone, especially during pregnancy. Then, the neurological development of their children was assessed at 3 and 5 years.
“This observational study showed no deleterious effect on the language communication capabilities, or on the motor development of children in connection with the use of the phone during the pregnancy,” says Dr. Eleni Papadopoulou, an epidemiologist at the Norwegian Institute of public health, and lead author of the study.
