A military officer of 32 years was admitted to the emergency department of the clinic of Saint-Hilaire d’agen for a sore throat, on the 25th of August last, reports the daily South-West. The man died a few days later, in circumstances which remain unclear, which are the subject of an investigation.

The regional service of judicial police of Toulouse is responsible for determining if a medical error has been committed, the cause of death of the patient. According to the first elements, he was in good health and was preparing for a departure for a mission in Lebanon.

Cardiac arrest

He had gone to the emergency room for a sore throat, which made him suffer, following the recommendations of his general practitioner he had consulted a few days earlier.

The military has been admitted to the emergency room Thursday night, where he took pain-killer morphine. He returned to the clinic the next day to see an ENT doctor and have a scan. According to the South West, he would have waited all morning in a box to see another doctor.

The young man complained of suffocation ; the medical team has installed a morphine pump. His condition then worsened, he was placed under oxygen. In the early afternoon, he had a cardiac arrest. The teams do not resuscitation have not been able to get him out of his state of unconsciousness.

He was transferred to the Holy Spirit hospital, in a critical condition, where he died on Monday. An autopsy was performed. The member’s family has filed a complaint.
