E. Coli: the boil water advisories are still in effect in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville

LONGUEUIL – The boil water advisories are in effect for the past two days has finally been lifted for Longueuil and Boucherville, but it is still in effect in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, has announced that the City of Longueuil on Friday.

“For the City of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, the notice is still in force, at least until Sunday, because a sample collected from this area is non-compliant (presence of total coliforms without E. coli),” one can read on the website of the City of Longueuil.

We always recommend that citizens of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville to boil their water for at least a minute before using it for the following purposes:

• Drinking and preparing beverages
• Prepare bottles and food for babies
• Washing and preparing food eaten raw (fruit, vegetables, etc)
• Prepare foods that do not require prolonged cooking (canned soups, desserts, etc)
• Make ice cubes
• Brush teeth and rinse mouth
• Watering the pets
• Take the ice cubes (don’t forget the tanks, refrigerators), food and drinks, prepared after 14 h, the 6 September, with tap water unboiled.

Citizens can use the water straight from the tap to:

• Prepare foods and dishes in which the cooking requires prolonged boiling
• Wash dishes in hot water with detergent, making sure to dry;
• Do run the dishwasher, if it is set to the cycle the more hot;
• Wash clothes and take a shower or a bath. In regards to the young children, make sure they do not swallow no water while bathing or wash them with a washcloth.
