OTTAWA – The government of Canada has established a website to assist Canadians affected by the hurricane Irma.

Canadians will have access to different information concerning each of the affected areas: state infrastructure, networks, dates of closures and re-openings of airports, addresses of shelter available, or accommodations of the Canadian community.

“Every effort is made to ensure that the information below is up to date. However, this information may change due to the path of the hurricane Irma and Jose”, one can read on the site.

To request consular assistance, an information sheet to be sent by e-mail is made available in order to make more efficient the process.

The government of Canada recommends that Canadians avoid “all travel to the affected region to monitor news and weather reports, follow the instructions of local authorities, including evacuation orders and curfews.”
