TORONTO | If elections were held today, the conservatives led by Andrew Sheer could dislodge from power the liberals of Justin Trudeau, shows a survey from Forum Research.

According to the results of the coup probe published on Sunday, the conservatives accounted for 39 % of voting intentions, compared to 35% for the liberals. Following the New democratic Party (NDP) with 15 per cent, the Bloc québécois 5 % and the green Party at 4 %.

The conservatives could even hope to form a minority government by winning 169 seats, one less than required for a majority, against 130 for the liberals, predicted the toronto firm.

This is a reversal of the situation compared to the previous survey by Forum Research in August, where the troops of Justin Trudeau reaped 42 % of support, compared to 35% for those Andrew Scheer.

However, 34 % of respondents indicated that it is Justin Trudeau, who would be the best prime minister, compared to 20% for Andrew Scheer.

“Trudeau began the fall session with a popularity decrease”, explained the president of the polling firm, Lorne Bozinoff, who believes that the leader of the conservatives could enjoy it. “However, Scheer is still unknown to many voters and must find ways to differentiate themselves from Trudeau to solidify its gains,” said the analyst.

The survey was conducted on 13 and 14 September with 1350 Canadian. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 %, 19 times out of 20.
