Guy Caron, mp for Rimouski-Neigette-Témiscouataet spokesperson on finance for the NDP, is the only Quebec candidate for the succession of Thomas Mulcair.
The race direction also precludes Ontarians Charlie Angus and Jagmeet Singh as well as for Manitoba’s Niki Ashton, the NDP critic of employment and development of the workforce.
The results of the first round will be announced this Sunday at 14: 30.
In the event that none of the four candidates managed to exceed the mark of 50 % support, the lowest will be eliminated and a second round will be launched.
The next leader of the NDP will be known, at the latest, on 15 October.
