LAVAL – A violent fire caused nearly a half-million dollars in damage Tuesday morning, in the district of Chomedey in Laval.
The fire department received an emergency call a little after 9 p.m. reporting black smoke coming from a residential building located on 100th avenue.
“On our arrival on-site, the first and the second floor were in flames,” said Jean-Sébastien Roch, chief of operations at the fire Department of Laval.
Thirty firefighters were dispatched to the scene to control the blaze.
The building affected by the fire is a total loss, while the nearby residence has suffered major damage.
No one was injured.
Firefighters assess the damage at approximately $450,000.
