Plague : WHO sends out 1.2 million doses of antibiotics in Madagascar

In Madagascar, the balance of the plague epidemic worsens. The department of Health announced that now that 33 people died, among the 231 affected. The world health Organization (WHO) comes to the aid of local authorities and announced on Friday 6 October, having shipped 1.2 million doses of antibiotics.

The drugs will be used “for curative and prophylactic,” says the WHO in a press release. They will be used to treat 5,000 patients infected and sick, but also to protect up to 100 000 people at risk.

In all the countries, the health facilities, as well as the mobile health clinics will be sourced. In the coming days, 244 000 additional doses will be delivered.
