The event is rare, and the unions are counting on this fact to send a strong political message to the government. The hospital doctors (PH) joined the strike of civil servants on Tuesday, 10 October.

They wish to make their voices heard on the deterioration of their working conditions and the loss of purchasing power that they undergo. In a press release, they denounce the freezing of the index point officials, they also suffer, but especially the increase of the CSG, the restoration of the day of deficiency, and the reform of their pension benefits.

The increase of the CSG non-compensated

In 1984, a hospital practitioner touched, and early in his career, five times the legal MINIMUM wage. Today, he receives 2.8 times the minimum wage, reminds us of the intersyndicale PH Future hospital. The fault to the freezing of the index of civil servants, who are therefore more inflation, but not only.

The 1.7% increase of the CSG, scheduled for 1 January 2018, will not be compensated. “It will be balanced for the officials. It will be for liberal doctors. But the hospital doctors were not even invited to the discussions, ” explains Dr. Max-André Double, chairman of the Future hospital, contacted by Pourquoidocteur.

According to the union, the budget constraints on public hospitals of health hinder the recruitment and the attractiveness of the careers. And the salary is not the only black point for the unions. A day of deficiency in the event of a shutdown condition has been restored. “The doctors stop very little, and if they do, it is when they are really sick. They don’t take sick at 38 °C of fever. This is unacceptable, ” growls Dr. Double.
