Reminder of sausages possibly contaminated with Listeria

QUEBEC – The ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) is warning the public not to consume sausage Products meats Slovenia Ltd., located in Montreal, because of the possible presence of the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.
The affected products have been sold by the company, as well as in retail outlets in the metropolitan region of Montreal and in the Laurentians region, between 21 September and 13 October. They were sold in a refrigerated state on their labels contain the phrase “Slovenia”.
It is: “Sausage debrecene” and “Sausage Hungarian”, including the dates on packaging are the 20, 21 and 22 September.
Persons in possession of these products are urged to discard or return them in-store.
The MINISTRY states that even if the product does not present any sign of tampering or suspicious smell, “the consumption of a food contaminated with Listeria can cause listeriosis, which can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness or nausea. Pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly, children and people with weakened immune systems are considered the most vulnerable”.
The MINISTRY stresses that this warning is broadcast as a precautionary measure, and that no cases of illness associated with the consumption of this food has not been reported until now.
