OTTAWA – A recall notice from burgers and chicken nuggets frozen brand Jane has been launched across the country by the public health Agency of Canada following an outbreak of infections with salmonella.
Eighteen cases have been reported in Canada, including two in Quebec. A case could possibly be fatal, but “it has not yet been established if the salmonella had contributed to (the) death,” said the Agency, in a statement released Thursday. Six people were hospitalized.
The recalled products are the following :
– chicken burgers breaded non cooked pub-style of the mark Janes. It is packaging 800 g, including the expiration date is 12 may 2018 (2018 MY 12) and the bar code is 0 69299 12491 0;
– chicken popcorn breaded and not cooked style pub, boxes of 800 g, for which the expiration date is may 15, 2018 (2018 MA 15) and the bar code is 0 69299 12542 9.
They have been distributed at a national level.
“The public health Agency advises Canadians to avoid eating the recalled products,” said in the press release.
“In healthy people, salmonellosis often goes away without treatment, notes nevertheless the Agency. (But) in some cases, salmonella can cause severe illness and require hospitalization.”
