The Austrian constitutional court has approved same-sex marriage

Representatives of the constitutional court of Austria confirmed that it took a positive decision on same-sex marriage in the country. This information was confirmed by sources in court.
Starting from 1 January 2019 same-sex couples can officially marry in the organs recording acts of civil status. The court justified the prohibition of discrimination the principle of equality before the law.
For same-sex couples in Austria since 2009, has a special rule, which assumes fixed by legislation “partnership”. The line between marriage and such kind of relations in recent years began to fade. This became especially relevant after same-sex couples allowed to adopt and raise children.
