According to scientists, the ice in Greenland is melting faster, reports Rus.Media. This phenomenon entails the rise of ocean levels around the world. The end of the century can be flooded many coastal cities. According to scientists, the melting of the Greenland ice is three times faster than in Antarctica.

Along with the melting of ice in Greenland is increasing the level of the oceans all over the world. According to researchers from NASA, the global sea level rises, and the end of the century will increase by as much as two meters, which will lead to the destruction of some coastal cities. If Greenland completely melted, the water level would increase 7 meters.

NASA scientists acknowledge that the loss of ice has increased dramatically over the past two decades – from 34 gigatons in 1992-2001 to 280 gigatons, since 2002.

“Over the past 50 years, the amount of melt water has doubled, according to climatologist Jason BIOXY. In Greenland I see ice melting. And the more ice melts, the more formed lakes.”
