CHIBOUGAMAU | In June 2010, Cindy Gauthier was killed by 14 shots from an axe to the head, in Chibougamau. Seven years later, his relatives do not digest always not the sentence being served by his murderer: 16 years imprisonment for involuntary manslaughter.

In the framework of the program “victims voice”, Jean-François Guérin met the mother of Cindy Gauthier, as well as the brother of the young woman, who had the difficult task to identify the battered body of his sister.

The family of Cindy Gauthier has not only lost a loved one in this tragedy; she has also lost its illusions about our justice system. While they were expecting to see the murderer take the path to the penitentiary for at least 25 years old, it will be able to apply for parole in 2018.

“I have no more confidence in the justice system. My daughter’s life is worth more than 16 years in prison”, said, still today, the mother of Cindy Gauthier.

See this vibrant testimony, this evening, at 20.30, on the waves of LCN. The show “The voice to the victims” will be rebroadcast Saturday and Sunday at 12: 30 and 17: 30.
