To six months of the G7 summit, one feels that more and more businesses in Charlevoix are preparing for the event which will be held in La Malbaie; this is the case of the Microbrewery Charlevoix, which has created a beer for the occasion, called the “G7”.

As soon as the holding of the G7 in Charlevoix in 2018 has been announced, an idea germinated in the mind of the brewer of the Microbrewery Charlevoix. For Nicolas Funny, we had to create a beer for the event.

“The basic thing is the main ingredient, it is barley malt canadian. The color comes mainly from the ingredient in English, which is the malt of oats. The strength of the alcohol comes from the ingredient in Italian is orzo. It really has very little bitterness in the hops, French hops japanese will bring the citrus and the hops-american, a bitterness, a bit earthy at the beginning. Yeast German, who complete it, will ferment all of these aromas and will provide a signature very refreshing,” he said.

It is still too early to know if the G7 leaders can taste the beer brewed for their coming.

“We have had discussions already with the organization, said by the president director-general, Frédérick Tremblay. The response is very good. There may still be still to have some discussions. They were eager to taste the product. When it is said that this is a beer that is democratic, what we want is that it pleases everyone.”

The team would like to see their concept become a tradition, and that each host country of the summit created its own beer.

For the moment, the beer is available at the Saint Pub in Baie-Saint-Paul. It will, however, soon to be brewed at the plant for it to be sold on the shelves in the spring.

The logo, designed by the artist Mélissa Deschênes of La Malbaie, will be unveiled soon.
