A 3 year old child dies in a fire in Ontario; two infants in a critical state

OHSWEKEN, Ont. | A child of 3 years died Friday in a fire at a residence in the indian reserve of the Six nations, Ohsweken, in the south-western Ontario. The two toddlers were rescued, but remained in a critical condition in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The young deceased had hidden under a bed on the second floor of the house in flame. He later died at the West Haldimand General Hospital in Hagersville.

The two infants who are ill, aged only three weeks and one year.

According to Global News, four other children have undergone tests at the hospital.

The links between the children were not specified.

“This is a tragic situation for the community. I can’t imagine what the family and friends of the family go through this time”, said the head of the fire service of the reserve, Matthew Miller, who had to be treated in hospital after inhaling smoke during the procedure.

The investigation is ongoing. Saturday morning, the claims adjusters had to pass again the scene to fine-tooth comb in an attempt to determine the origin of the fire and the circumstances surrounding this fatal fire.
