A detained 74-year-old reportedly tried to hang himself at the operational Centre of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Sunday, reported the press Office of the independent investigations (BEI), which opened an investigation into the matter.
The man was reportedly found hanged with his shirt to 18 hours, but the police “intervened quickly,” according to initial information collected by the EIB.
He was taken to hospital, where one was not afraid for his life.
Since this event occurred in a position of the SPVM, the EIB is responsible to shed light on this suicide attempt. Six investigators have been assigned to the case. The Sûreté du Québec will offer its assistance by providing the services of a technician in forensic identification.
