Now Mars is a cold planet devoid of water in its liquid state. But the question of whether the conditions suitable for existence of life remains open, reports Rus.Media.

For example, there are areas with dried up ponds, where they find signs of existence of life there in ancient times. Such areas on Mars is also of interest to researchers. However, a new publication in Nature Geoscience suggests that this may not be the best place to search for evidence of life on the red planet.

The researchers claim that they yet know little about the origin of life on Earth. If you do similar research on another planet, we should expand the scope of the search for signs of life on Mars. Besides, conditions on Mars differ from earth. Therefore, existing approaches can be misleading with respect to Mars, as it is based on different conditions of life on the planet, where there is photosynthesis.

In ancient times on Mars existed gartelmann activity. The Mars Rover Spirit in 2008 accidentally discovered the appropriate hydrothermal complex. And in 2020, NASA plans to send to the red planet a new machine that will be able to collect and send to Earth samples of the Martian surface.

The researchers hope that it will be possible to get samples of the deposits of mineralized fault zones, where you could mix various fluids in the crust, carried different elements.
