Benjamin Biolay has accused Gregory of being a little too inspired one of his songs, via a video posted on instagram by 31 December. The singer is forbidden in a response that was not short of humour.

The year 2018 will start with a bang for the French song with the quarrel between Benjamin Biolay and Gregory. The first accused the second of having plagiarized one of his titles, Thy Inheritance, from the album “The Beautiful”, dated to 2009 and for his daughter Anna, for her song, My children, released in November last year. On instagram Sunday, December 31, the juror of the New Star has chosen to drag his fingers on his piano to accuse the interpreter of You + Me, set to music.

“You should know that copying is not nice, even if work is too hard (…) there’s a way to make a piece especially for her offspring without borrowing, or not too much, and without getting knocked down, that’s for sure (…) but a good year anyway” , sang Benjamin Biolay, with the message : “The verse is missing the last song of Gregory” in the caption to his video.

Gregory did not let him do that. For his response, he is also being helped by his piano, playing in turn Your inheritance, I Will Survive of Gloria Gaynor, the Time of flowers of Dalida, to finish on his own song, all with the same chords. In the caption to this video, posted on Twitter, the singer down “Mr. Me, Myself and I” and invited him to read the poem “If… Thou shalt be a man, my son” by Rudyard Kipling. “Happy new year still…” said Gregory.

This is cool stuff for my BB? No one has the monopoly of a suite of agreements, Mr. “Me, Myself and I” and nobody has the monopoly of a theme : re-read the “if…” by kipling, finally read it… rather good year when even… @Benjamin_Biolaypic.twitter.com/kxxZPuGJ1i

To the Parisian, he is again defended from any plagiarism. “This is recess,” he lamented. Songs of a father who speaks to his children, there are thousands. (…) In regards to myself, I was inspired by a poem of Rudyard Kipling that dates back to 1910. (…) The following agreements of our two songs existed for millions of years, and it is not the same throughout the piece. The only similarity is the atmosphere, the piano-voice. There are not more than that. This is not a plagiarism “, has hammered the singer.
