During the holidays, people eat and drink a lot. This orgy of fats, sugars, and calories mean to our liver and our body. The excesses that one can compensate but is it safe to go up to these cures detox that we are selling to the length of the magazine ?
Herbalism and algae galore
Cures detox are clearly in the mode. Just open the magazines to be convinced. Advice on essential oils, plants to consume, or infusions to prepare to swarm.
But, it’s all to sell you something. The “chain of detoxification” sells the idea that it is possible to eliminate from her body, all the impurities (pesticides, heavy metals and fats) and recover bodies almost new. But the scientific evidence is light or often missing.
Does it address the juice of black radish ? This black radish which is believed to be effective detoxifying and antiseptic properties on the organism, and would allow a better elimination of toxins. Does it intensify the consumption of garlic which contains sulphur constituents which could act as chelating agents of heavy metals ? Or coriande ? Or take supplements of chlorella ? These are all of the adsorbents, but is this helpful after the holidays ?
No demonstrated interest in cures detox
Researchers in australia were interested in this matter, and that they have reviewed all of the studies done on the diets detox in a study published in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
They have sifted through the results of a hundred of research more or less rigorous on the subject : none of them, proves in a scientific way the benefits of these cures.
A healthy diet is sufficient
It is therefore better to focus on a healthy and balanced diet in the aftermath of feast, rather than rushing on the last detox treatment at the mode.
If you have had too much to drink at new year’s eve, it is better to avoid drinking again drinking alcohol in the days that follow to not abuse a liver and a stomach, already highly solicited. Avoid foods rich in fat (high-fat meats, cheeses, and pastries). Fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains and plenty of water will be perfect. It is also necessary to reduce fried foods and sugar for the return as quickly as possible within the limits caloric recommended. Not the money, so to finish off a chocolate box !
Don’t neglect the physical activity
The holiday season rhymes also with good resolutions. But before you put on or get back to sports, we can already offset the caloric intake in excess by moving a little more than usual. Walk more than an hour or jogging for more than ¾ of an hour for the more courageous : to do a little bit of physical activity helps to eliminate “toxins” and fat.
However, it is best to avoid activities that are too intensive the day after the public holiday, and focus on endurance activities : swimming, running or cycling.
Interest sleep
The links between overweight and sleep deficit are long-established. Go to bed before midnight and avoid waking up at the crack of dawn or, if the lights are essential, strive to sleep at least 8 hours, this is based on the body and the brain and it is better for the metabolism. A refreshing nap can have its interest.
In the end, diets detox, whoever they are, have not shown more interest than a healthy diet. Especially as the plans to bases of plants or plant extracts can have some drawbacks, such as a young English woman who had managed to cause a disease with a detox diet based on valerian, a plant which causes of decrease dangerous of the salt in the blood (hyponatrémies).
Attention, even if sold in a pharmacy, the health claims on the packaging of dietary supplements forget to do their side effects.
