British endocrinologist and nutritionist Alisa Vitti believes that there is no more difficult and painful premenstrual period than the one that comes in January

Until January, women’s hormonal system is so out of balance that the first month of the year is very hard, reports Rus.Media.

This pattern I observed for two decades, says Alisa Vitti. – During the festive period, so many things that destroy our endocrine system. Travel, lack of sleep, trying to finish all the work, excessive stress. Besides, too much sugar and alcohol on the holiday table.

Vitti explains the January pain and fatigue for two main reasons:

Holiday stress and exhaustion

Trouble, partying, traveling causes the body to produce more cortisol, a stress hormone. If the voltage is too high, the body begins to steal progesterone (female sex hormone) to produce more cortisol, because they are similar on a molecular level. The dominance of estrogen is the root cause of all troubles menstrual period: weight gain, pain, mood fluctuations, irritability and anger, fatigue, skin problems and low libido.

Changing diet

Large amounts of food for the holidays undermines the endocrine system, which to work properly needs a basic set of necessary microelements. Alcohol, sweets, caffeine, lack of sleep impoverish our reserves, cause fluctuations in blood sugar and drastically affect the cycle.
