A 51-year-old David Hallyday finds himself head of the clan Hallyday. The role of head of the family that the oldest son of Johnny had begun to take over the years, anxious to preserve the unity of his family in difficult times.

Built by Sylvie Vartan, his mother in the United States, with whom he had a child a fused relationship, and then by Tony Scotti whom she met when he was still a teenager, David Hallyday has spent a little family moments with his father, during his childhood. And if their relations have not always been simple, as the two men with very different temperaments, have sometimes struggled to understand each other, they are gradually found. In the album Blood for Blood, their complicity is visible. In 2009, when Johnny has big problems of health, David rushes in and organises things, takes away the vultures that circle around his family, takes care of Laura, then in a bad state. But the moments where all the clan Hallyday has been met are not so many.
In an interview with VSD in 2013, David spoke with emotion this evening in 1993 when her parents shared the same scene, a moment necessarily rich in emotions.

“We are a family that is so special. Think : my parents have marked so many generations ! It is not often all together in one place. It is one or the other, never all three together. It has never been repeated since. In private, yes, sometimes, but then, oddly, it doesn’t make too much music. We don’t sing. Sometimes I take my guitar and I do go 3-4, we go there “, but it doesn’t follow, it balks. It is like the riders of the 110 metre hurdles, at the house, they don’t run. Joking aside, the Parc des Princes, it was a beautiful evening. I am a sponge, I take a little of what the public gives me, and there was such an emotion to see us all three, ” adds the son of the Taulier.

It is in tragic circumstances on the day of the tribute to Johnny in the Madeleine that the stepfamily will be found very united, to say goodbye to the rocker passed away in the night of 5 to 6 December at the age of 74 years.
