The participants answered questions about health problems. Also volunteers were asked what they know about the risks and safety in salons, reports Rus.Media.
More than two-thirds of respondents had faced one or more health problems after visiting the salon, for example, fungal infections or symptoms of respiratory diseases.
Of fungal infections was reported by 10% of participants. 42% had problems with skin (itching on the face or hands, cuts, burning or tingling, pain and redness around the nail, discoloration of nail).
Each 6 Respondent complained of respiratory symptoms (runny nose, watery eyes, itchy eyes, shortness of breath and headache). Problems often appeared after a visit to nail salons compared to salons. However, experts do not believe in the existence of a causal relationship.
The scientists also conducted a second study. It was attended by 68 workers 40 nail salons. They were mostly women from Asia. They complained of health problems, probably related to work.
