NASA scientists released a map showing temperature anomalies in the world, reports Rus.Media. The map shows deviations from the average temperature in a particular region.
As explained by NASA, the red indicates the areas where the temperature is above average, blue below. White marked the places where the temperature is correct.
Observations were collected by spectroradiometers with ultrasonic resonance image (MODIS) on the NASA satellite. Scientists say that the device collects data about surface temperature, not air.
Therefore, on the map as hot spots may appear developed urban areas, which in the afternoon is usually hotter than the surrounding natural ecosystems or agricultural lands.
“Warm anomalies that persist in most parts of the globe for many years, may be signs of global warming,” the scientists add. Recent data date back to February 2017.
NASA said that December and January are abnormally warm for most of the world. For example, California has embraced unusual for this normally wet period of the fire, and in Alaska you can ride on boards t-shirts. At the same time another part of the United States struggling with excessive frost.
