In an interview with the newspaper Corse matin, the actress and model Laetitia Casta is responding to the column published in the newspaper Le Monde defending the “freedom of men to annoy” the women and the recent movement #BalanceTonPorc who has followed the case of Weinstein.
This fall, the producer of hollywood Harvey Weinstein was fired after multiple allegations of sexual assault. In France, the movement #BalanceTonPorc has been launched to allow women to denounce on the social networks, the sexual harassment of which they had been victims at their place of work.
But many dissenting voices were expressed on the method, up to the publication of an op-ed in the newspaper le Monde on Tuesday defending the “freedom to annoy” men. This forum has been ratified by 100 signatories, including Catherine Deneuve, Catherine Millet and Brigitte Lahaie, currently in turmoil, for his comments on rape.
Questioned by the newspaper Corse Matin, the model and actress Laetitia Casta has expressed it as his disagreement with the movement, and has defended being a feminist : “I do not agree with the idea of #BalanceTonPorc. After that, it’s going to be what, balance your bitch ? (…) This is not in the aggressiveness that we are going to move things forward, it is not in the hatred of the man. How can we give so much power to others. We are responsible for ourselves. It is large enough to also tell me what you want ! I do not consider myself a feminist but as a woman. It is necessary that the women should not be afraid to take their place “
