Montreal | A man has assaulted a young girl in Toronto on Friday, cutting off her veil with scissors before fleeing, police said of the largest city in canada.

“The assault took place in – or around – the school” Pauline Johnson on Friday at around 9 a.m. (local time), indicated to the AFP Katrina Arrogant, spokesperson of the police.

The schoolgirl was not injured during this incident, only the hijab is referred to. The police opened an investigation.

School Pauline Johnson is located in the east of the city and accommodates 300 pupils of the primary school. It presents its pupils as being of “cultural backgrounds and socio-economic diverse”.

More than two-thirds of the students speak a language other than English at home, according to the school.
