Why France Gall is a party in Africa after the death of his daughter – Gala
refuge
After the death of his daughter Pauline in 1997, France Gall had taken refuge in his secondary residence in Senegal. A haven of peace where she was able to relax.
This place has always symbolized the idea of a refuge. A humanitarian mission since the beginning of the 80’s, France Gall and Michel Berger, had fallen in love with Africa and the small island of Ngor, 17 kilometers off the coast of Dakar. The singer and her husband had bought a house while helping the local population, including the construction of a school. On December 18, 1997, five years after the brutal death of Michel Berger, France Gall was faced with another tragedy : the death of his daughter Pauline. She took refuge in this house in Senegal to recuperate. Our confreres of Paris, have collected many testimonials from neighbors and friends who were well-known.
“She told me : I do everything to be there on the 18th of December, because here I have the oxygen to recharge myself. His house spoke to him, and he happened to have the urge to go back in the water, ” explains Abdoulaye Diallo, with whom she created the association of Friends of Ngor. “It was a lot of good around it while hiding that it was her”tells, for its part, Mama Hawa, a seller of jewels and fruit, close to France Gall.
On-site, the singer licks its wounds and grief over the death in a relative anonymity. “It was fleeing the photographers and the tourists. She would buy me sweaters hoodie that she wore with a hat to go unnoticed, ” said Alioune Thiaw, a seller of fabrics. A information supported by another neighbor, Joël Mornet. “When we were on her door and she saw White come, France was leaking. It was its quiet and preferred to be with people from here. She appreciated the quality of human relationships. The kindness and tolerance of the people of this village, ” he says. A quiet significant for the woman to live a second intimate drama in the space of five years.
