L’ANCIENNE-LORETTE | The government Couillard pledged Thursday to increase its subsidies of 40 % for the installation of sprinklers in residences for elderly persons, recognizing in the same breath as the previous program was ineffective.

Thus, for complexes of 30 units or less, and non-profit residences, the cost of the installation will now be assumed 100% by the State. In those who have more than 30 units, the refunded amount will be between 60% and 80%.

The minister of Health, Gaétan Barrette, has recognized that these measures, which are expected to cost $ 67 million, were necessary because the homes were not as eager to install sprinklers.

“It was found that the previous program was not only insufficient, but [in addition], the certified residences is décertifiaient”, the minister said Strip, when it was announced.
