The work accident occurred Thursday afternoon, at the building site of the new Champlain bridge, raises questions about the safety rules.
An inspector in welding has a fall of about three metres in a box girder bridge.
The pressure is high on the workers on the construction site since the bridge must be delivered on the 1st of December next.
The Union of operators crane operators has criticized Friday the way in which the operation was conducted by the dedicated lifeguards of fire Department of the City of Montreal.
The firefighters have used the crane was already on site in order to get out the victim of his unfortunate position.
The union had the impression that the operation was improvised and asked the consortium to have a plan more clear to similar circumstances.
“It is a way to do that is used regularly. We had the option to use a wire cage, but instead opted for the use of our equipment, ” explains Eric Dhamen, head to the operations of the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal.
