The president of the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste SOCIETY), Maxime Laporte, announced on Monday that it launched a policy to seek nomination of the Parti Québécois (PQ) in the riding of Pointe-aux-Trembles, Montreal.

“Being an activist citizen in the soul, I do not run into politics to be a politician. Some caress this dream; not me, said respectfully. If I launch, it is to act and contribute to the advancement of ideas that are dear to me and that, in my opinion, deserve greater representation in the political system of quebec. Several people whom I respect invited me to make the jump. After careful reflection, I feel I’m ready,” said Maxime Laporte, in a statement released Monday.

The candidate, who was 30 years of age, wishes to propose during his campaign, a program aimed at “improving the quality of life for families, workers, young people and less young people, the advancement of social justice, measures for the environment and respect for diversity”.

Activist and president of the SOCIETY since 2014, Maxime Laporte is also a lawyer.

The current mp, pq, Pointe-aux-Trembles, Nicole Léger, announced last week that it would not be a candidate in the elections of 1 October.
