At least that is what he has hinted, on Tuesday, during an interview on the radio HERE First at the microphone to Catherine Perrin.
The ex-leader of the Parti québécois has indicated that they have been encouraged by his daughter Romy to return to the political arena. “God only knows!”, he said before adding “I don’t know if I’ll follow his advice”.
Here is a gist of his words in 8 citations:
“Obviously things have evolved since my departure, I have a shared custody that is sanctioned by the court, therefore, all goes well, and Romy, my daughter, of course we listen to the tv together, Thomas also, and so she told me last week : “you have to get this. It is necessary that you can go”. It was nine years ago! (laughter)”
“To put things in context, things evolve, and then we’ll see what the future holds for us.”
“My children, I have always been with them, I always accompanied them to the school. Me, my fun, this was going to lead them to the school. Having to make a choice between the two, it was, I don’t know if we can say about Shakespeare or whatever, but I took this decision, as it seemed to me, was unique. You can’t make the choice between his professional activity/ policy, and his children. We must, in regards to myself, make the choice of the children, and it is the natural choice that I made.”
“There has been a lot of discussion around the fact: is that the political life is compatible with family life? I think yes.”
“Me, for the moment, obviously I am in reserve with the republic. […] I run Quebecor. We have a lot of projects and I intend to be able to continue. It is sure that as a citizen I will participate in the debate, but as I’m not in the political arena, ben it is up to others to ensure that this debate-there vienna. As a citizen, in a personal capacity.”
“We have a leader for the Parti québécois, Jean-François Lisée. Me, I have always been attentive to collegiality. I think we are going to present to the elections. When I say we, because I’m still a member of the Parti québécois and no way I’m going to leave this party. It is the party of this great idea of the sovereignty of this great idea of our national affirmation then I leave it to my former colleagues, whom I greatly esteem, to do their political work on the ground and the parliamentary work that goes with it.”
“I said at the last council. You know that I left the political. This was not my wish, on the contrary. My political experience was, in quotation marks, minimum. I’ve been elected, you will recall, I returned to the national Assembly in a wheelchair because I broke the mouth of it by bike. I’ve had two concussions, eight broken bones. So good, a new environment, then immediately, very quickly the race [in the leadership of the PQ] has started. I was first in the polls in October or November. The race started at that time. I’ve been elected. On Thursday, I was a backbencher and the following Tuesday I became the leader of the opposition […] in front of the prime minister with parliamentary and seasoned! Philippe Couillard, this is not the last of the fools, on the contrary!”
“It was not necessarily always easy at the start, but after that I think I am well acclimatized. […] I felt very good.”
