For the third year in a row, Canada is in second place as the best country in the world, according to a ranking by the US News & World Report and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

To determine this ranking, covering over 80 countries, the authors of the list have conducted a survey of more than 21,000 people around the world who were interviewed on 65 factors-social, economic, political and cultures.

Canada has obtained an overall rating of 9.9 out of 10 (in 2017 the notes was 9.7 out of 10). Switzerland retains for a second year in its first place, with a perfect score.

The rest of the top 5 consists of Germany, ranked third, followed by the United Kingdom and Japan. The United States find themselves in eighth place in the ranking, while France is ranked in the ninth position.

Canada has taken the first place in the category “quality of life”, which measures the stability economic, political and quality of health systems and education.

The country has also secured the fourth place in the category “citizenship”, which takes into account the individual liberties, religious, human rights, the equality of man and woman and the respect of the environment.

In contrast, it is ranked 40th in the category “heritage”, which was judged as having little history, very little cultural attractions and gastronomy, rated 1.2 out of 10.

New this year, respondents were also asked to assess key world leaders. The canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and the German chancellor Angela Merkel were considered to be the most respected leaders in the world, while the american president Donald Trump and the Russian president Vladimir Putin received the worst popularity rating.
