FORT ST. JOHN, British Columbia – The largest producer of natural gas, Painted Pony Energy has received a total fine of $ 235,000, after that 14 migratory birds were found dead on the surface of a reservoir located north of Fort St. John, British Columbia.

After pleading guilty on may 31, 2017, Painted Pony Energy was sentenced on 22 December last year in front of the provincial Court of British Columbia for having rejected a substance harmful to migratory birds in an area frequented by the latter.

For these violations of the law of 1994 on the protection of populations of migratory birds and their nests, the court sentenced the company to pay $ 115,000 in Ducks Unlimited Canada. As well as 57 500 $ at the nature observatory MacKenzie and 57 500 $ to the Oiled Wildlife Society of British Columbia. Finally, it should also give $ 5,000 to the Fund for damage to the environment.
