MONTREAL – A warning was issued on Wednesday by the ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) against the smoked salmon sold in Montreal.

In a statement the MINISTRY explained that the product “has not been conditioned in a way to ensure safety”.

The caveat is that the “house smoked salmon”, sold in a variety of formats until the 23rd of January, inclusive, by the Butcher’s Atlantic Ltd., located on the chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges.

The products were sold in vacuum-sealed packages in the refrigerated state, and bear the “best before” date equal to or prior to February 6, 2018.

No case of disease has been reported to the MINISTRY, but the people that have one of the smoked salmon purchased at that place should not consume it.

They may return to the trade or even throw it away. “Even if the product does not present any sign of tampering or suspicious smell, the consume may pose a health risk,” said the MAPAQ.
