King Tutankhamun, the Pharaoh who ruled Egypt more than 3,300 years ago, slept in the precursor of our modern camping bed, reports Rus.Media.

British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the unique three-layer bed, made of light hardwood, when he went into the Treasury of the tomb of king Tut in 1922.

This piece of furniture was smaller and was closer to the earth than the other five common beds found in the burial chamber of king Tut. However, it had excellent level of comfort, and has a very elegant design and sophisticated technology.

The study showed that a bed made in a Z shape, thanks to ingenious mechanism. This is the only size camping bed, which was ever found. Any other pharaohs, king Tut, was not a bed.
