The canadian food inspection agency (CFIA) has issued a new recall of caviar from the brand Imperial Caviar & Seafood.

The products referred to are the “Eggs of whitefish” in a format of 50 g, with all the “best before” dates ranging from 29 may to 15 December 2018, inclusive, with the exception of the 13 June. The products carry the CUP 1 86866 90027 9.

The caviar could contribute to the proliferation of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and should not be consumed. Several similar statements have been issued recently by the CFIA for products of Imperial Caviar & Seafood.

The CFIA advises not to consume that food and throw it away or return it to where it was purchased. People who have consumed the product are advised to consult their doctor.

The food contaminated by the toxin of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum are not necessarily of alteration visible or smell suspicious. The symptoms include facial paralysis, fixation of the pupils, difficulty swallowing, drooping eyelids, blurred or double vision and difficulty speaking.

The CFIA states that no cases of illness associated with the consumption of this product has been reported to date.
