    OTTAWA-The Senate requests that Transport Canada is preparing a “matter of urgency” a plan to guide the design of autonomous vehicles, in order to ensure their safe driving on the roads.

    The senators filed on Monday a report entitled ” Paving the way : technology and the future of the vehicle automated. The report examines the new challenges posed by the imminent arrival of these cars without a driver in Canada.

    They are also concerned about the risks of autonomous vehicles to cyber security, the privacy, the loss of jobs and urban sprawl, in particular.

    In all, 16 recommendations were made by the senators of the standing Committee on Transportation of the Senate.
