RIMOUSKI | A man who was passing by Rimouski on Monday morning to go to Sainte-Flavie, a half-hour drive away, can be proud of having had the reflex to go and knock on the door of a house that was engulfed in flames.
Shortly before 10 pm, Alexandre Guimond was travelling on boulevard Sainte-Anne, and saw a thick smoke coming from the attic of a residence and called the emergency services.
“When I passed […], I glanced, quickly, quickly, told the good samaritan to VAT New. I saw that it was not from the fireplace. That fact that […] I turned to edge, and then when I got on the side of the house, I saw that there really was a fire […]. And I called 911 to call the fire department as quickly as possible. “
After you have called emergency services, Mr. Guimond said that there might be people inside.
“I have not banged, I vargé in the door and I saw the head of the little man, advancing to the couch. I did : “huh, there’s a world inside”. So, here I am back inside and say : “leave quickly, go in my car, there’s a fire outside the house”. That fact that they went to get warm in my car. “
Two adults and a child were in the home at the time the fire was raging, and they were unaware that the fire was taken from them.
Twenty-four firefighters from the fire Department of the City of Rimouski were dispatched to the scene and has quickly circumscribed the destructive element.
The vigilance of Mr. Guimond has enabled us to avoid the worst, but the good samaritan remains humble.
“This is just the normality of things, I think, and have a keen-eyed, he told TVA News. It really is a chance. But, I think that I have acted in the right way for the well-being of the whole world. In any case, they are safe and sound, it is what is important. “
An investigation is underway to identify the exact cause of the fire. The thesis of a fire of electrical origin is not ruled out.
