Rimouski: a 21-month prison sentence for a sex offender

    RIMOUSKI | A man of Rimouski was sentenced Monday afternoon to 21 months in prison for sexually assaulting four underage people.

    Suddenly, André Alexandre is registered in perpetuity in the national sex offender Registry.

    André Alexandre has acknowledged to have made four victims, two in Rimouski and the other two to Saint-Cléophas, in the Matapedia. The 53 year old man drunk and drugs his young victims before abusing them sexually.

    “The relevant facts of this case, is odious, as it often does in sexual matters. But here, what is particular, it is the administration of drugs, it is quite rare”, emphasized the Crown prosecutor, Eliane Beaulieu.

    Following a suggestion common of the Crown and of the defence, Andre Alexander has been sentenced to 21 months in prison. His victims were all present for the sentencing.

    “Several victims who wish to be present during the judicial process. They need to see what happens to the court to be able eventually to put it aside and continue their lives”, has explained to Me Beaulieu.

    Andre Alexander has stated before the Court that he acknowledged having an alcohol problem and that he wanted to get his act together, for himself and also for his family. A mea-culpa of late that has not shaken the judge, who recalled the consequences of aggression for its young victims. “The victims are the most important people at the heart of this case. They have heard the comments of the judge, and I’m glad that the judge has considered,” said the prosecutor Beaulieu.

    André Alexandre will take the path to the detention centre in Percé, an institution specialized in the treatment of sexual deviance.
