Sexual assault: a gymnastics coach was arrested in Ontario

    A gymnastics coach for 28 years has been arrested by the police in connection with a series of sex crimes in Peel, west of Toronto.

    This is a complaint filed by a 15 year old girl earlier this year who has put investigators on the track of the coach.

    The investigation has established that the alleged victim was reportedly assaulted by his gymnastics coach over a period of four years.

    Scott McFarlane was arrested Friday and accused of several crimes, including sexual assault, luring a child under 16 years of age, having made sexually explicit material to a child under 16 years of age and indecency against a child under 16 years of age.

    According to the authorities, Scott McFarlane was a gymnastics coach, well-known in the region of Peel. He has also led the athletes in the regions of Ottawa, Oakville, as well as in Western canada.

    McFarlane has been suspended indefinitely by Gymnastics Ontario.
