OTTAWA – barely a few hours after the commemoration of the 1st anniversary of the massacre in the mosque in Quebec city Monday night, posters of supremacist whites have been placed on a mosque in Ottawa.
According to local media reports, the Jami mosque of Omar, located in the district Bells Corners in west Ottawa, has been plastered with posters hateful. On one of them, it was possible to read “White Power” (the power of the Whites). On the second, a cartoon depicting Adolf Hitler was surrounded by the words “there is no God except Hitler, and we are his prophets”, in English.
The posters were discovered around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. They were quickly removed, in the morning.
“It is very disturbing. […] Unfortunately, this type of islamophobia and anti-muslim re-emerge from time to time. It is sad,” lamented the imam of the muslim Association Kanata, Sikander Hashmi, the interview with the “Ottawa Citizen”.
“At the same time, we know that this is not the majority of the population who thinks so”, he added.
The Ottawa police confirmed that it had opened an investigation on this event.
These posters leave no doubt about the white supremacist messaging. Several were glued to walls and doors of the mosque, discovered when people arrived for morning prayers. pic.twitter.com/DnsZcsnxN1
