In the night from 31 January to 1 February, the inhabitants of planet Earth had the opportunity to observe a rare astronomical event with a mysterious name “supermoon”, reports Rus.Media.

It arises from the coincidence of a full or new moon with a perigee — point of closest approach of the moon and the Earth.

In addition, for the first time in 150 years, three sky cosmic events happened in one day. This lunar Eclipse, blue Moon and a supermoon.

Called lunar Eclipse, which occurs at the entrance of the satellite in the shadow cone cast by the Earth. A “blue Moon” is the second full moon occurring in the same calendar month.
